When Andor released its first trailer I got a glimpse at what I believed would be a costume worth making. As soon as the episode was released I started looking at details and extrapolating based on previous costumer I had made. Skip a couple a weeks and the pattern was done , the only issue was the fabric. It was reported that they used denim and self dye in green to have that particular hue.
I got a chance to talk with one of the extra who did mentioned a stretchy denim feel. The issue is that the hue they talked about was a dark blue within the green. You cannot dye a dark denim in green. However after testing I found out that I could “reverse” the jeans, effectively using the light side ( how ironic) to make the suit and the dye would fit perfectly while the darker blue hue would come through.
All I had to do afterwards was to apply the weathering I wanted to have a final suit that looked really good ( in my opinion).
