Wookiees

making a wookiee is not a small undertaking, it is a brutal work. It takes forever to weave the hair onto a mesh suit…which contributed to the worsening of my rotator cuff injury. Blending the hair to get a more natural look, finding creative way to add a bunch of heights without looking weird; everything you do is to create a realistic creature.

I made 6 of these; plus a couple of busts, eventually I settled for a mid size wookiee and decided to stay away from calling mine “chewie”, the scrutinity of such an iconic character made it way to stressfull building the face.

The decision to stand at 2m09 and not 2m17 comes from what I call “natural” walk necessity. Adding stitlts is a great way to gain height BUT it comes at a cost. 1. the legs cannot look straight if you want to hide your shoes midway to the wookiee’s legs. Wearing size 46 means the legs would look disprortionally thick. 2. More importrantly I anted to be able to actually walk and feel sturdy on my feet, especially because people tend to shove kids in your hands or push you to take pictures… as such using
